Fast food franchises are popping up all over the country and the NHL has jumped on the bandwagon.
The Tampa Bay Lightning franchise was announced this week, and now the NHL will begin rolling out its new franchise in the Tampa Bay area, which will include a new fast food restaurant.
The NHL franchise, known as the Tampa Center, will open in time for the 2019-20 season.
“We’re going to be opening up a new location in the heart of Tampa Bay for the Tampa Tampa Bay Hockey Club, and we’re also excited to announce that we’re going open up our first franchise in our home city of Tampa,” Tampa Bay Mayor Bob Buckhorn said.
The team, which also includes the Lightning’s alumni and current players, will be in the new franchise’s new arena, the Tampa Sports Authority Center.
The arena was opened to the public last month and is set to be complete by the end of the month.
The city will also get its own NHL franchise by 2020, which means the team will be moving into the same facility.
In addition to being a Tampa Bay hockey team, the new team will also be known as Tampa Bay FC.
It will feature a new logo that will feature an orange and white “Tampa” logo, a new team crest, and a new sponsor.
The name of the new Tampa Bay franchise will be unveiled later this year.
In a statement, Buckhorn called the move “a historic day for the NHL, Tampa Bay and our city.”
“The Tampa Bay region is a key part of the growth of our state and nation, and today marks a new chapter for the franchise in this area,” he said.
“This franchise will play an important role in growing the Tampa community and our state’s economic and social impact.”
The NHL said it will announce its next expansion franchise in 2020.
